The challenge

Most online PDF tools upload documents to a server, which is a poor fit for contracts, invoices, and identity documents. Ridocs takes the client-side route: the browser does the merging, page editing, and image conversion, and the result is downloaded directly.

What was built

• Build each tool as its own focused page: Merge PDFs, Organize PDF, and Photo to PDF.
• Render visual page previews so users can see what they are reordering, rotating, or removing.
• Use drag and drop for the merge queue and page grid instead of numeric ordering inputs.

Product decisions

• Process files with pdf-lib in the browser; there is no upload, account, or server-side storage.
• Keep the tool list small and mark unfinished tools, such as Compress PDF, as coming soon rather than shipping them half-done.
• Publish the source so the client-side claim can be verified.

Delivered functionality

• Merge multiple PDFs with drag-and-drop ordering and previews
• Organize a single PDF: reorder, rotate, and remove pages
• Convert JPG photos to PDF with page-size control, as one file or separate files
• Fully client-side processing with direct download

Result

• A shipped, open-source PDF utility that works without an account.
• A privacy-preserving option for everyday document tasks.
